Just like the winter belly we seem to pack on every year, small daily degradation is tough to spot. Similarly, a tire’s performance goes from offering Velcro grip to a vague and loose feel. Much like that dad-bod, change is slow, and harder to notice when it’s happening right in front of us.
We took a pair of tires that most, including ourselves, would continue to ride and created a highly controlled scientific laboratory to see just how much our seemingly fine tires were costing us.
To be honest, we were a bit skeptical as to just how much of a difference a relatively slow, staged corner like this would show between fresh rubber and tires we’d happily run for another month. As they say, the proof is in the pudding.
