Giant Trance X 29

GIANT

THE ALL-NEW TRANCE X 29

THIS NEW ADDITION TO THE TRANCE FAMILY OF TRAIL BIKES IS ALL ABOUT PUSHING YOUR LIMITS ON RUGGED SINGLETRACK TRAILS.

Building on the proven all-rounder capabilities of the shorter travel Trance 29, we added more suspension travel front and rear. We then dialed in the frame geometry to make the new Trance X 29 a perfect choice for anyone who loves to ride chunky rock gardens, aggressive descents and technical climbs. Uphill or downhill, this plush 29er delivers stability, speed and incredible control.

The heart of the new Trance X 29 is its super strong and lightweight ALUXX SL aluminum frameset. The chassis is engineered with the stiffness you need to rail corners, accelerate up to speed, and blast steep climbs. This ultra-efficient frameset is balanced out with our latest Maestro suspension system that gives you 135mm of smooth, active rear travel. That’s an additional 20mm over the Trance 29 range, which makes it perfect for those who like their singletrack spicy. The rear suspension is paired with a 150mm fork, producing a balanced feel that soaks up the terrain and keeps you rolling along with smooth control.

Giant Trance X 29

One of the breakthrough innovations on the Trance X 29 range is our all-new adjustable frame geometry feature. A flip chip on the Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm of the Maestro suspension system lets you choose a steeper or slacker head and seattube angle depending on your riding style and terrain. You can change the head angle from 66.2 degrees to 65.5 degrees. The seattube angle adjusts from 77.9 degrees to 77.2 degrees. Switching the geometry also changes the bottom bracket drop from 30mm to 40mm.

The “low” setting gives you slacker geometry that’s better suited to faster, more open terrain, while the “high” setting offers steeper geometry and is recommended for slower, more technical terrain.

The frame geometry, in all its configurations, is built to optimize the superior roll-over capabilities of our 29-inch wheels. You also get plenty of tire clearance with room for high-volume tires up to 2.5 inches. And every Trance X 29 model comes with our tubeless WheelSystem and tires set up right out of the box.

No more compromises. Now you can easily dial in the handling just the way you want, whether you’re climbing to the top of an alpine pass, flying down flow trails or trying to nail new lines on steep drops and rocks.

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
MAESTRO FLIP CHIP

WHAT IS IT?
The flip chip allows riders to quickly adjust the geometry of their Maestro-equipped mountain bike to better suit how and where they ride. It lets riders change the headtube/seattube angles and bottom bracket height via eccentric (offset, two-position) hardware located on the upper rocker arm.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
This hardware gives the rider two positions to choose from: high and low.

  1. HIGH POSITION
When the flip chip is in the high position, the headtube and seattube angles become 0.7 degrees steeper and the bottom bracket height is 10mm higher.
  2. LOW POSITION
When the flip chip is in the low position, the headtube and seattube angles shift to become 0.7 degrees slacker, and the bottom bracket height is 10mm lower.

HOW DOES IT CHANGE MY RIDE EXPERIENCE?

HIGH POSITION:
From a riding perspective, a steeper headtube angle makes the bike handle quicker and a steeper seattube angle places the rider in more aggressive climbing position. Also, a higher bottom bracket improves pedal clearance, allowing riders to pedal through rocky and rooty terrain with fewer pedal strikes. The high position is the recommended setting for slower, tighter, more technical terrain.

LOW POSITION
Having a slacker headtube angle gives the bike more stability at speed and increased confidence on steeper terrain by placing the front wheel a bit farther out in front of the rider. Additionally, a lower bottom bracket height lowers the center of gravity of the bike and rider, making it even more stable at high speeds. The low position is ideal for faster, more open terrain.

TRANCE X 29 TECHNOLOGY

Engineered to help you ride faster and smoother on the toughest trails, this all-new 29er trail bike gives you smooth suspension performance to gobble up technical terrain. The ALUXX SL aluminum frame is lightweight, stiff and super strong, and adjustable frame geometry lets you dial in its handling for total confidence and control. Here’s a look at the key technologies in the new Trance X 29.

Giant Trance X 29

1. ALUXX SL ALUMINUM
This state-of-the-art aluminum material is made predominantly from 6011 alloy and delivers best-in-class strength-to-weight ratios. The frameset features unique welding technologies for a high-performance ride quality.

2. MAESTRO SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY
Four strategically positioned pivot points and two linkages all work together to create a single floating pivot for the most active, efficient and independent suspension system.

3. ADVANCED FORGED COMPOSITE
A state-of-the-art, high-pressure molding process is used to produce a complex shaped carbon-fiber upper rocker arm that is lighter, stiffer and stronger than an aluminum version.

4. TRUNNION MOUNT
Integrated shock mount produces a lower leverage ratio for increased pedaling and braking efficiency, plus a lower center of gravity and shorter chainstays for improved handling, climbing and agility.

5. ADJUSTABLE FRAME GEOMETRY
Flip chip lets you change the headtube and seattube angles, along with the bottom bracket height, to fine-tune the handling. You can choose the low position (65.5/77.2 head/seattube angle and 40mm BB drop) for faster, open terrain or high (66.2/77.9 head/seattube angle and 30mm BB drop) for slower, tighter singletrack.

6. OVERDRIVE
Designed to provide precise front-end steering performance, the system’s oversized headset bearings (1 1/2” lower and 1 1/8” upper) and tapered steerer tube work in conjunction to provide optimal steering stiffness.

7. FRAME PROTECTION
Updated chainstay and downtube protection help keep rock strikes and chain slap damage at bay.

8. POWERCORE
A massively oversized bottom-bracket/chainstay area features a fully integrated, 92mm wide bottom-bracket design. Asymmetric chainstays provide additional stiffness on the driveside and stability on the non-driveside.

9. BOOST TECHNOLOGY
Wider hub spacing (110mm front/148mm rear) results in stiffer wheels for added control. This also allows more tire clearance and creates an improved chainline for optimal drivetrain performance.

10. GIANT TUBELESS SYSTEM
Integrated Tubeless WheelSystem and tires deliver improved efficiency, comfort and control in the most user-friendly and reliable system.
