Bernard Kerr has been crowned champion of Red Bull Hardline 2021, taking the victory with an incredible time of 2.33.533 down the world’s toughest downhill mountain bike course – and a record-breaking third Red Bull Hardline win.

With Laurie Greenland in second, and Kade Edwards completing the podium in third, no one was catching Bernard who flew down the course, nailing each feature with precision – including the huge new 60ft step down – to take the title for the third time.

‘It feels unreal. It’s been a tough week but I honestly couldn’t be more stoked” said Kerr after his win. “I missed Friday practise and obviously there was no qualification yesterday so I’m pretty relieved and happy it’s done now. It’s been such an amazing week with the riders, such a vibe in the camp. Positivity and an awesome atmosphere bring good riding.”

Due to strong winds cancelling the qualification on Saturday, viewers on Red Bull TV were treated to an extended race on Sunday, as 24 riders put times down on the course built by Dan Atherton in the Dyfi Valley, North Wales.

The racing was hard and fast from the start, with early benchmark times laid down by Josh Lowe and Lewis Buchanan. Adam Brayton – the four-time Hardline veteran threatened the top position mid-way through the race but it was Matteo Iniguez who was the man to beat for the first hour. The former Junior Downhill World Champion Kade Edwards then went 1.7 seconds up, before Laurie Greenland increased the gap further, holding first place until Bernard Kerr, who was last down the hill, started his run.

Second place Laurie Greenland improved on his results from previous years to take second. “We’re mid-way through the season, my head is in that race zone so I just went for it. The whole course, the features, and the wind this weekend meant that I had to be headstrong. Red Bull Hardline really is gnarly but it’s been a great week with the rest of the guys, and along with the crazy racing it’s been a welcome break”.

“Red Bull Hardline is totally different to every other race,” said third-place Kade Edwards. “I’ve been racing for a couple of years and I’m still getting my head around it. I felt a bit more comfortable than in previous years but you never get used to it. Third feels amazing, I can’t believe it, I didn’t expect that for sure”.
