THE NEW MARZOCCHI BOMBER AIR SHOCK

After years of offering simplified, value-oriented, performance mountain bike forks, the Marzocchi Bomber Air rear shock is sure to please die-hard fans of the big red M. We spoke with Matt Hornland at length once we received our new shock and a shiny new Z1 fork for this video and an upcoming long term review. “The release of this shock isn’t something we took lightly,” Hornland shared, “it needed to be worthy of the Bomber name, the Bomber legacy. We wanted to develop a shock that was durable, would stand the test of time, and perform well for any rider.”  

For those who may not know, Marzocchi is owned by Fox Factory Suspension but Matt told us this isn’t just a rebranded Float X. It was all part of the effort Marzocchi’s team put into making this shock a Bomber product. Keeping true to Marzocchi’s ethos, the Bomber Air shock is designed to be a simple, user-friendly product that is affordable yet capable of handling the roughest and fastest trails you can throw its way. A quick look at the Marzocchi rider-roster and you’ll see that riders like Cam McCaul, Jaxson Riddle and Reed Boggs have been sending this shock bigger and harder than the rest of us could ever hope to.  

So far we’ve been quite pleased with the simplicity of the shock, how it changes our mindsets to just focus on the fun and ride rather than busting out the tools and notepad to endlessly tweak our suspension in search of minor improvements. This shock works, and the easy to understand dials do what they’re supposed to do. We look forward to spending more time aboard our new Marzocchi Bomber suspension as we conduct a long term review aboard our Fezzari La Sal Peak.
