FORGE+BOND Unveils the Future of All-Mountain Wheelsets with the F+B 30 AM

The New F+B 30 AM provides lightweight performance, a smooth ride and unmatched durability for handling anything the mountain has to offer.

FORGE+BOND, the manufacturer of high-performance, recyclable thermoplastic carbon fiber bicycle wheels and components, today announced the introduction of its new all mountain wheelset, the F+B 30 AM. The wheels will be available at select retailers in the US and online at www.forgeandbond.com, starting today. The F+B 30 AM comes in three hub configurations and range in price from $1899 to $2199.

The F+B 30 AM is designed for riders who demand the best of both worlds: lightweight performance and all-mountain durability. Like all FORGE+BOND wheels, the F+B AM 30 is made with FUSIONFIBER®, a carbon fiber material that uses long chain nylon polymers as the bonding agent instead of the brittle epoxies that are found in traditional carbon fiber products.

FUSIONFIBER® products are not only stronger and more durable than those made with traditional epoxy-based carbon fiber, but due to the microscopic flexing in the FUSIONFIBER® material, FORGE+BOND wheels are able to radially dissipate shock throughout the rim, resulting in a smoother rider with much higher impact resistance.

For customers keen to support brands that take a stance on reducing one’s environmental impact and promoting responsibility, FORGE+BOND’s wheels can also truly be recycled due to the ability to reform and remold the nylon polymer bonding agent. If a wheelset breaks or a manufacturing defect occurs, the team at FORGE+BOND seeks to reclaim that wheel and feed it back into its Utah-based manufacturing facility. Once removing the hub and spokes, they then simply chop up the wheel into a short fiber material that can then be used to manufacture any number of products, which in their product line currently features tire levers.

The F+B 30 AM features a 30mm rim depth that provides a balance of stiffness and compliance, making it ideal for a variety of terrain. The rim is also wide enough to accommodate tires up to 2.6 inches wide, giving riders the option to run lower tire pressures for better traction and control. A 4mm bead wall thickness provides ample protection against large impacts and pinch flats.

Riders can choose between four hub specs, including Industry Nine Hydra hubs in either 6-Bolt or Centerlock, DT Swiss 240 Boost Centerlock or Industry Nine 1/1 Boost 6-Bolt hubs. All wheels feature a hookless rim design and come set up for tubeless application.

The F+B 25 XC wheelsets feature a lightweight, yet stiff, FUSIONFIBER® rim that is paired with race level Industry Nine 1/1 and Industry Nine Hydra hubs. The result is a carbon, thermoplastic wheelset that is fast and responsive, able to absorb bumps and vibrations and generates a smooth and comfortable ride. FORGE+BOND leverages an advanced thermoplastic composite material that they’ve developed called FUSIONFIBER®. It’s a proprietary material made with long-chain nylon polymers instead of the brittle and toxic epoxies and resins used in typical carbon fiber manufacturing. The distinct benefit is that the wheels show superior strength and durability over epoxy-based wheels and they can also be recycled to be reprocessed in any number of ways due to the use of nylon as the bonding agent.
