Treyton Maskaly Rides Lake Tahoe | Specialized Levo eMTB Film

September 10, 2026

No one knocks on your door with a blank check and says, “Go make something you want to exist.” That’s a big reason personal projects matter to me. I’ve made multiple feature-length mountain bike documentaries and dozens of action sports short films simply because they were ideas I wanted to explore.

These projects give me room to scout new locations, test gear, sharpen ideas and keep pushing the kind of work we bring to client projects. This short film follows Treyton Maskaly from digging and shaping the trail to riding fast, technical lines through rugged terrain in the Lake Tahoe mountains on his Specialized Levo e-MTB.

My approach with mountain bike films is usually to look for some kind of story or framework around the riding, even if it’s simple. The action and locations still need to be strong, but I think even a little context can give people something to connect with and give a film a longer shelf life.

Once we had the footage in the can, Treyton and I also spent an afternoon shooting photography. Kudos to him for hiking back up these trails for take after take.
