The Vala Aluminum delivers on all of the benefits of the Vala—poised suspension, high-quality parts, and legendary Santa Cruz reliability and warranty support—but in a package within reach of more riders.

The four-bar suspension is predictable and confidence-inspiring, and the Bosch Performance CX Line motor (the same as in the carbon Vala) delivers power and torque in a manner that augments your riding style, rather than overpowering it. We removed the flip chips found on the carbon Vala to eliminate tinkering and get you riding in the best all-around setup out of the box.

The Bosch Performance Line CX is powerful, reliable and quiet, and has quickly become the industry standard. It delivers predictable torque, and improves your ride uphill, downhill, and everything in between.

Range Versatility & Uncompromised Handling

It’s got 850 Wh…kinda. 600 Wh under the hood and an optional 250 Wh PowerMore range extender provides the freedom to go far. But on the regular days where the main battery is enough (you know, 1400-1800m of vert) you don’t have to carry around extra heft. Handling excellence was at the heart of every design decision, so finding that weight sweet spot was a primary parameter.

System Control

The entire Bosch system is beautifully integrated, simple, yet advanced. Tiny, ergonomic, wireless remote control, wireless speed sensor, and a simple display make living easy. The Bosch app allows you to fully customize modes, upload routes, track rides, and even let the Range Control select modes for you.

Made To Last Many Lifetimes

Strength is prioritized over skimping on bearings, strength, or inadequate parts. Like all Santa Cruz bikes, the pivots and links are tough, reliable, and easy to maintain. Plus, owners get lifetime replacement bearings. Bikes aren’t throwaway items, but they get thrown around. That’s why ours are made to last many lifetimes.

No Fiddling

We removed the suspension-adjustment flip chips on the aluminum Vala to keep things simple. Set your sag, air up your tires, and hit the trail.

Why Four-Bar? Why Not VPP?

The four-bar suspension system has already been ‘Vala-dated’ and deemed ‘Bullit-proof.’ To recap – the VP-Free approach allows packaging of the motor, greater seat post insertion, and, most importantly, gets the suspension characteristics we want.

Aluminum From The Ground Up

Manufacturing a frame from aluminum requires a different design and approach than carbon. While the design concept doesn’t change, everything else does. The Vala Al might share a name with the carbon Vala, but we’re treating it like a whole new bike because it is.
