A few days ago, YT released their latest edit, “Daydreaming”, featuring YT Mob rider, Dylan Stark. This edit takes some elements from the “Donnie Darko”, rightfully so. We wanted to catch up with the crew to see what went into making the video. From the original concept to all the nitty details. An overlooked detail that didn’t quite get discussed in our conversation, Mikal Cronin (solo artist as well as Ty Segall bass player) made the intro score in 24 hours when YT found out they couldn’t clear the original score from the movie. He rides bikes and is a fan of Dylans riding, so he was super hyped to make it happen. Give the feature a watch, then check out our BTS video along with a bike check and extended photo gallery down below.
On the evershifting trails of Lake Elsinore, California, the YT MOB’s Dylan Stark embarks on a surreal journey. With his DECOY SN serving as a conduit for supernatural power, Dylan pushes the boundaries of time and space, inviting viewers to a world unbound by the limits of reality in this cult film homage.
The DECOY SN is no ordinary E-MTB – it’s an instrument to control the unkown. With ride-enhancing technology and a custom bar spin setup desinged specifically for this edit, it shifts reality enabling Dylan to blur the laws of physics as he navigates the otherworldly trails of Lake Elsinore. Here, his riding forms a metaphor for the ability to control one’s fate – if only for a fleeting moment.
“I’m excited about how this video turned out. It shows how the DECOY SN can unlock endless possibilities that wouldn’t always be possible on an analog bike. Filmed at my local zone where I love to dig and explore new lines, this bike truly does it all..” – Dylan Stark, YT MOB Freeride Athlete
With strong visuals and killer riding, this one isn’t to be missed – watch now to see Dylan’s take on the DECOY SN, and how it’s shifted his relationship with the land.
BIKE CHECK
Dylan’s bike started as a stock YT Decoy SN Core 4 but was fine-tuned to match his fearless riding style in Daydreaming. To make it bar-spinnable, the front brake was routed through the headset, and the rear brake was carefully wrapped. The Fazua Ride 60 ring controller was relocated via a cut down piece of handlebar fastened to the mounts under the top tube. The seat post was also swapped for a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper, creating a cleaner, clutter free cockpit.
For greater adjustability on the steep, rough trails of Lake Elsinore, the stock Fox DHX2 Factory Coil Shock was replaced with a Fox Factory Float X2. 5DEV ETOR e-cranks and trail/enduro flat pedals were added completing a build that was made to handle the gnarliest freeride terrain with ease.
