TECH CHECK

INTENSE TAZER

May 4, 2026

The new generation Intense Tazer is exactly what Intense fans and eMTB riders have been waiting for from the legendary SoCal bike brand. Intense Cycles last generation Tazer was long in the tooth and bloated in the belly, but the new 150/160mm eBike is svelte, slim and ready to shred! This bike has been at on of fun so far and the updated frame, suspension design, Bosch eBike Systems CX drive unit and well-rounded geo make this a real contender.

As with all of The Loam Wolf Tech Check features, this was made with the support of Intense. As such, this is not intended to be an official review or endorsement of the Intense Tazer, but instead an opportunity to put it in the spotlight with enhanced coverage. Stay tuned for the long-term review hitting the site in the coming months.

This next-generation Tazer is a ground-up redesign built around the new Dual Co-Rotating (DCR) Link suspension platform, tailored specifically for powered riding. Paired with Bosch’s latest fifth generation Performance Line CX motor, delivering 120Nm of torque, the system and suspension are designed to work in complete unison, eliminating the traditional compromises between power and performance. The result is a 160/150mm platform that delivers the reliable power you need, and the responsive performance you want.

“The development of this Tazer was one of the most in-depth cycles in our history,” said Jeff Steber, Founder of INTENSE. “We tested multiple suspension platforms side-by-side to extract the best traits – DH sensitivity with trail bike efficiency. The result is a bike that stays composed in the rough but remains active under power.”

Geometry Charts & Kinematics

The motor and DCR platform are precisely tuned together for powered riding, whether you’re going up or down. Every element is carefully balanced to maximize efficiency, traction, and control. Advanced kinematics keep the suspension supple off the top and progressive throughout the stroke — poppy and resistant to harsh bottom-outs. The all-new Tazer was built to push the limits of what a trail bike chassis is capable of.

Leverage Ratio: Compared to the previous Tazer, the all-new Tazer features a significantly refined suspension curve that remains smooth and consistent throughout the entire stroke. Where the old curve varied, the new one stays active and supple over chatter, builds progressively under load, and delivers confident support all the way to bottom-out.

Axle Path: The all-new Tazer features a significantly more rearward axle path compared to the original Tazer. Moving nearly 60% further back upon impact, the rear wheel now tracks up and over rocks, roots, and square edges rather than deflecting off them. That rearward movement translates to better bump compliance, improved traction, and a ride that stays smooth and planted.

The Tazer lineup offers something for every rider, with the PRO Build, Foundation Build, and Frameset. The platform is impressively light for its class, a medium frame with the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5, 800Wh battery and Kiox 400C Display weigh in at 24lbs 2oz (10.94kg). The complete medium Pro build weighs in at 50lbs 6oz (22.85kg), with weights varying by size and build.

For those who want complete control, the INTENSE 3D Configurator offers a fully customizable experience, letting you select every component, and finish to match your riding style.
