TRP EVO PRO DISC BRAKES
MTB’S BEST BRAKES GET BETTER?
March 3, 2025
We’ve been huge fans of TRP’s DHR Evo brakes for quite a while, and we’ve never been paid to say it. We recently had the chance to meet up with TRP’s Kevin Boyer for a chance to get a custom installation and tutorial of the new Evo Pro HD brakes. With some improvements to both power and user-friendliness, the Evo Pro HD brakes should have lots of heavier, downhill-biased and eMTB riders excited.
The Evo Pro HD brakes take the feedback and experience of both athletes and consumers into account and are the next evolution in TRP’s high performance brake lineup. Fans and athletes loved the consistency, power and light lever feel of the DHR Evos, but some riders wished for a bit more when it came to adjustability and cockpit customization.
The new Evo levers have an all-new design from the master cylinder to the lever features. An ergonomic blade now has both lever reach adjustability and a new Pad Activation Dial (PAD). This was a big step for TRP as they wanted to give riders who run their levers close to the grip the ability to have instant engagement or a slower, more modulated bite point.
Moving beyond the all-new lever body, the system runs on TRP’s proprietary Mineral Oil blend, which they claim has some special formulations to manage heat and flow smoothly, leaving a light feeling lever that truly helps reduce arm fatigue.
The calipers remain unchanged from the crowd-pleasing DHR Evos, so you’re essentially running your old favorites, with a better lever up top.
