Durango Derby
All-New Stage Race In Durango
$10K Pro Prize Purse
Durango Derby, an all-new mountain bike stage race taking place on September 23rd, 2023, announces a $10,000 total pro cash purse. The prize money will be split evenly between the Pro Men and Pro Women’s solo categories. First place will take home $3,000, while second place leaves with $1250, and third rounds out the podium with $750. Podium contenders in all other categories, including two- and four-person team categories will leave Durango with prize packages filled with goods from sponsors like Maxxis Tires, King Cage, MRP Bike, Tailwind Nutrition, Embark Maple, Stan’s No Tubes, and many more.
This announcement comes as an answer to the recent decline in active mountain bike races across North America that deliver top level racing. Durango Derby is bringing both elite level racing and good times for all riders back to the legendary cycling community of Durango, Colorado. The unique race format delivers a fun new challenge for the modern mountain biker, featuring four amazing stages, in one day, that showcase Durango’s premium in-town singletrack.
Professional and hardened racers will compete in the solo division and will take on all four stages and 3 untimed transfers totaling 44 miles. Pro racers will be competing not only to stake their claim in Durango MTB history but also for some cold hard cash thanks to the amazing event partners. With no shortage of local legends and young talent, Durango Derby has already attracted top pro riders like Payson McElveen, Sarah Sturm, Ellen Campbell, Howard Grotts, Todd Wells, Evelyn Dong, Ruth Winder and many more.
REGISTRATION IS STILL OPEN!
Whether you’re into a big day on the bike or looking for some “serious-ly” friendly competition amongst riding buddies and families, all categories including the Solo, 2-person and 4-person team categories are still open for registration and will remain open until the race.

TIME FOR A SPLIT
It’s not all about elite racing though, in-fact, Durango Derby has nearly 80 amateur riders registered for solo men’s event. Because the category has grown so popular, race organizers have decided to split the category into an “under 40” and “over 40” categories. The category will be divided in the final results, so for now, please just register in the Amateur Men category.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Marking the start of fall riding season, Durango Derby’s official race day will be Saturday, September 23rd 2023.
