RED BULL DUO TAKE ON THE CRAZIEST BIKE OBSTACLE COURSE

July 31, 2026

Red Bull athlete Danny MacAskill becomes the first rider to conquer the world’s craziest bike obstacle course, after completing an unforgiving floating track over open water at Eastnor Castle, following a head-to-head challenge with fellow Red Bull athlete Kriss Kyle.

The course stretched more than 200m across water and included multiple features over three progressively harder sections. The course featured a seesaw, log skinnys, wall rides, ladders and narrow wooden traverses suspended above the water. The final sequence required riders to clear a zigzag section before balancing across a narrow beam and onto a pole to get to the finish line. One mistake and riders are plunged into the water below.

Danny and Kriss made their way through the treacherous obstacle course and were also joined by around twenty amateur local riders alongside the host, Jono Jones. True to its description as the toughest bike obstacle course, it proved too difficult for the riders to navigate successfully which left Kriss and Danny going head-to-head to get the furthest.

After repeated failed attempts, both riders continued pushing deeper into the obstacles and persevered to push the boundaries of what’s possible on a bike on the course. Kriss, riding a mountain bike showed grit throughout and stuck to his all-action style that has made him one of the best riders in the world. Kriss’ best run finished on the beam, the penultimate feature, which saw him concede to the course getting the better of him on this occasion.

Danny, riding a trials bike took a different approach and showed his experience as he methodically plotted his way down the course. When he came up short he often found a way to bail out and stay dry. After dozens of attempts, his meticulous planning combined with his incredible talent meant he cleared the final obstacle and became the only rider to complete the ‘impossible’ course when all others had fallen short.

On taking on the course, Kriss Kyle said, “this was one of my favourite ever projects with Red Bull. Riding here at Eastnor Castle basically doing total wipeout on my mountain bike was so much fun. Credit to Danny as I just couldn’t quite get it done today but loved every minute”.

After completing the challenge, Danny said, “this is what these Red Bull projects are all about. When I first arrived I thought I could do it until I actually got out there and realised how hard it was going to be. It was really physically demanding which made it even harder towards the end. I had to lock in, fully concentrate and show a lot of resilience to complete it. I was buzzing when I finally got over the line!”
