First-ever North American Edition of the eMTB Challenge

Registration Deadline Extended

August 4, 2025

Bosch announced an extended registration deadline for the first-ever North American edition of the eMTB Challenge, which now closes at 11:59 PM PDT August 11. Since its debut in 2017, the Bosch eMTB Challenge has carved out a global reputation as a standalone racing series that blends eMTB racing and adventure like no other. With stops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and now – for the first time ever – Canada, the series is expanding and making its Crankworx debut on Whistler’s legendary trails. Riders can register via the official Crankworx site here.

“While eMTB racing is firmly established in Europe, North America riders haven’t had the chance to experience this thrilling format on their home soil,” said Claus Fleischer CEO at Bosch eBike Systems. “Crankworx is the perfect backdrop for the eMTB Challenge, and we anticipate some fierce competition among amateurs attending to spectate, riders from the industry racing against their co-workers and peers, and pro riders looking to compete for prestige and prizes.”

In the eMTB Challenge Amateur and Advanced categories, the focus is on enjoying the opportunity to compare skills with others within the community. Participants cover around 35 kilometers and 1,000 metres of elevation per event – a challenge that requires not only riding technique but also a sense of direction, fitness and intelligent battery management. The timed stages, which offer a mix of uphill and downhill sections, are ridden against the clock without any prior training runs. In the transfer stages, on the other hand, the focus is on navigation. Riders can navigate using a GPX file that can be imported onto a smartphone, compatible eBike displays or a bike computer.

There also is a Pro Category, introduced for the first time in 2025, which is specially tailored to professional eMTB Racing athletes as well as very ambitious riders. While amateur starters complete five stages and advanced starters six, participants in the Pro Series face a total of seven stages, two of which are designed to test the limits of what’s technically possible. As in the other categories, the times of all the stages are added together, and the fastest riders are declared the winners.

Prize money of $800, $400 and $200 will be awarded for the first three places in the Pro Category, with equal prizes for men and women. There is also a new overall ranking, where the top ten riders in each race collect points and each race counts towards the overall ranking. Prize money of €3,000 is on offer for overall victory in the Bosch eMTB Challenge Pro Series, with €2,000 for second place and €1,000 for third place.

Riders can register via the official Crankworx site here.
