Every PEMBREE component is designed and tested in the UK, shaped by real-world rider feedback. GT Factory pro rider Jake Atkinson, a regular at Crankworx and IXS Dirt Masters, plays a key role in performance development and field testing.
“PEMBREE’s entire range is built with real attention to detail – not just in how it performs on the bike, but in how it’s made,” said Jake Atkinson, pro rider. “I’ve had the chance to test and provide feedback on many of these components during development, and the performance is world-class. As someone who rides at the highest level, I need kit I can trust, and PEMBREE delivers that, with the added bonus of being ethically and sustainably produced. It’s refreshing to see a brand where top-tier performance and responsible manufacturing truly go hand in hand.”
Sustainability in every step
PEMBREE manufactures all its components in the UK, ensuring no outsourcing to regions with low wages or high pollution. The brand champions sustainability by utilising 100% recycled materials and maintaining fully sustainable packaging and logistics.
Pricing & availability

Mounting up PEMBREE’s new GCS handlebar and stem, it was immediately apparent that tolerances were tight and that they were made to work together in harmony. The markings on the bar ensured I was able to get them centered and at a sensible roll right away, taking away much of the guess work. The no gap design left no doubt about clamping the bar down properly, while providing a clean aesthetic when looking down at the cockpit.
Swapping to the PEMBREE cockpit reduced the stem length by 10mm over the standard spec on the YT Decoy SN 29, while reducing backsweep by 1 degree compared with the Race Face ERA bar. The result was a slightly more compact and aggressive feeling in the front end, but still one that felt very comfortable. Bar sweep is a personal preference, with the less swept bar giving a slightly more aggressive elbows-out feeling that matches the race-worthy intentions of the GCS cockpit.

On trail, the PEMBREE cockpit provided a reassuringly solid feeling, with the stem devoid of notable flex. Where some stems can allow for torsional flex that can be disconcerting for the hardest charging, the GCS stem offers a direct and precise connection between bar and steerer tube. The bars sat happily in the middle of the spectrum for alloy handlebar stiffness, in a spot that’s sure to keep most happy, myself included.
Once the setup was dialed in and the initial adjustment period completed, the PEMBREE GCS cockpit faded into the background, as I believe any good cockpit should. After all, if you’re thinking about your bar or stem as you ride, it’s typically for the wrong reasons. The only notable aspects were the clean aesthetics that remained, with that Silver stem looking great as a bit of classy cockpit jewelry.
The PEMBREE GCS bar and stem were not revolutionary by any means, but certainly a solid option for your next mountain bike cockpit. Especially when bought as a pair to enjoy the harmonious relationship and clean aesthetic they collaborate on.
