THE ALL-NEW FUEL AND FUEL+

BRING ENDLESS VERSATILITY TO ANY TRAIL

August 7, 2025

Today, Trek Bicycle announced the launch of its all-new Fuel and Fuel+ — two trail platforms, one traditional and one electric, that take their predecessors’ award-winning performance to the next level. Both bikes are available in three distinct builds — EX, MX, and LX — giving riders geometry-corrected setups tailored to their ideal terrain and riding style. For riders looking for adaptability with a boost, Fuel+ e-MTB delivers TQ’s new HPR60 motor with a 580Wh battery for more power, torque, and efficiency than the previous-generation Fuel EXe.

FRAME FEATURES

Fuel and Fuel+ feature all-new frame designs engineered for versatility and all-day capability. More dropper insertion means most riders on a size medium frame can run a 200mm dropper post, and there’s plenty of space in the open front triangle for big shocks, large water bottles, or range extenders on Fuel+. Top tube accessory mounts on all Fuel and Fuel+ models allow riders to bolt on even more accessories like tubes and tools, and all analog Fuel models also get updated in-frame storage.

Both platforms feature leverage rate adjustment and now utilize a zero stack standard headset for broader aftermarket capability, including angle-adjust headsets and custom headset colors.

NEW FUEL+

Fuel+ builds on the award-winning foundation of Fuel EXe, evolving into its second generation with a new name and a big boost in performance. Equipped with TQ’s new HPR60 drive unit, Fuel+ delivers 60Nm of torque that engages at lower cadences for a ride that feels more supportive from the get-go. The new motor is more efficient and runs quieter than most. Integrated cooling fins help maintain consistent performance on the hottest, highest-output days.

A bigger 580Wh battery extends range significantly over the previous 360Wh system and remains compatible with TQ’s 160Wh Range Extender for longer days in the saddle. The battery can be removed from Fuel+’s downtube with a hex wrench for easier charging and transport. Fuel 9.8 and 9.9 models also come equipped with TQ’s new full-color LED display for an easier view of ride metrics.

ADAPTABLE TRAIL TECHNOLOGY

Many trail bikes allow for component swaps like wheels or shocks, but most don’t account for the impact those changes have on geometry or suspension feel. Fuel and Fuel+ do. Rather than compromising on bottom bracket height, leverage rate, or head angle, interchangeable rocker links and shock mounts reconfigure the frame for each specific build. That means no matter the setup, riders get the best fit, feel, and performance.

THE BUILDS

EX

Wheels: 29er
Suspension: 145/150mm (rear/front)

EX is the classic configuration for Fuel and Fuel+. Riders get balanced handling and the most efficient pedaling, making it the right bike for a huge variety of riding styles and terrain. It starts with the award-winning suspension kinematics of Fuel EX Gen 6, but gets an adjusted anti-squat curve that boosts efficiency on steep climbs. Pair that with more travel than its predecessor, and it’s not just more efficient — it’s more capable, too.

MX

Wheels: 29˝ front/27.5˝ rear
Suspension: 150/160mm (rear/front)

With mixed wheel sizing, more travel, and a more progressive leverage rate, MX is quick, playful, and poppy — ideal for getting zesty on side hits and railing tight turns. For riders missing Trek Remedy, Fuel MX is the dream bike.

LX

Wheels: 29er
Suspension: 160/170mm (rear/front)

LX is the long-travel bruiser in the Fuel family with a longer stroke shock and the most progressive leverage rate in the lineup. It’s the perfect ride for those wanting the hard-charging capability of Trek Slash without its high pivot suspension.

PROJECT ONE MTB

Fuel and Fuel+ both join Trek’s new Project One MTB program alongside Supercaliber, allowing riders to cherry-pick their builds to their exact specifications. Riders can choose their drivetrain, fork, shock, wheels, dropper post, cockpit, and more to get the perfect bike right out of the box. Project One MTB is available in carbon on 9.8 and 9.9 models for Fuel, Fuel+, and Supercaliber, and in alloy on Fuel 9.

AVAILABILITY

Fuel and Fuel+ are available now at Trek retailers around the globe and online at trekbikes.com in select markets.
