ORBEA MOUNTAIN BIKES
The Orbea brand has a beginning unlike any other bike brand out there.
The brand was started by brothers Juan Manuel, Mateo and Casimiro Orbea in 1840. The brand used an ornate logo that read “OH”: Orbea Hermanos. But the Orbea Brothers were not making bicycles in 1840, they were producing and selling handguns.
In 1930 Orbea Brothers and Co. exited the gun business and welcomed the new age of Orbea Bicycles. On the back of Tour de France stage champion Mariano Cañardo, Orbea gained recognition as a premier cycling brand.
In the early 90’s Orbea joined the mountain bike boom and started designing mountain bikes in the US and manufacturing in Asia. At that time mountain bikes were taking up a large portion of Orbea’s production capacity and they made a commitment to new products and adaptation was necessary.
Orebea’s commitment to new products and adaptation continues today with mountain bike models like the Rallon, Occam and their Wild FS e-bike. Orbea’s adaptation can be seen in their MyO program that allows customers to customize their bikes with things like custom colors and component changes.
