The Peaty’s Monarch Pro Grips

A New Dynasty

Head to the bottom of this article to read our First Ride review

The new Monarch Pro Grips are built to reign over every terrain. The Peaty’s design team have obsessed over every detail, testing over 40 different compound and material combinations alongside a test team of riders and racers, with the goal to squeeze out every marginal gain. The result? A grip that pushes performance beyond anything that came before it, the new Monarch Pro.

Setting the the Monarch Pro apart:

  • Dual Material Construction – Two precision-placed compounds deliver the perfect balance of grip, comfort, and long-lasting durability.
  • Impact Damping Core – Reduced vibration, improved comfort, and enhanced trail feedback—so you stay in control when it matters most.

Developed with fewer constraints and a singular focus on performance, the Monarch Pro rises to the top tier, refining everything riders loved about the original Monarch and dialling it up to the next level.

If you liked the Monarch Grips… you’re going to love the Monarch Pro.

Dual-Compound & Material

The Monarch Pro Grips are now engineered using two purpose-driven compounds, each strategically placed to maximise performance where it matters most.
In the pursuit of ultimate control and comfort, every material choice has been carefully considered and precisely positioned.

Upper Half & Inner Flange – 15A Durometer Rubber

Lower Half & Bar End – 30A Duralite Compound

By combining the right materials in the right places, the Monarch Pro achieves a perfect balance of grip, comfort, and durability, without compromise.

Under Half / Palm Facing Surface: More grip and Superior Comfort

The upper half of the Monarch Pro Grip, covering the palm surface, inner flange, and signature Zig-Zag thumb pad, is constructed from a super-soft, high-grip 15A durometer rubber compound.

As the primary contact zone, it’s engineered to deliver progressive damping, and enhanced control, exactly where riders need it most.

By pairing this soft 15A rubber with a precision cut-out in the grip core, the Monarch Pro achieves exceptional comfort and control, effectively absorbing trail chatter and harsh impacts without sacrificing feedback.

NEW Impact Damping Core

The tapered core of the Monarch Pro has been re-engineered to feature a new precision cut-away channel, positioned along the top of the grip, where riders place the highest pressure through their hands.

This channel maximises the depth of soft 15A rubber beneath the rider’s palm all the way down to the bar, enhancing vibration damping and reducing small-bump chatter across rough terrain.

The result is improved comfort, greater control, and noticeably reduced hand fatigue on longer, more demanding rides.

Lower Half & Bar Ends: Engineered for Durability and Pro-level control

The High Grip Finger Bars and bar ends are molded from a firmer 30A compound material called Duralite. Duralite is a unique blend designed to deliver both exceptional performance, comfort and long-lasting durability.

Exceptional Durability: Duralite is over twice as durable as rubber, delivering long-lasting performance in high-wear zones.

Structural Stability: The firmer compound retains its shape under load, providing a more direct, positive feel when pulling on the grips.

Impact Protection: Ideal for bar ends, it helps shield against impacts, scuffs, and repeated trail abuse.

The Monarch Pro Grip: Tailored to perfection.

Grips are the key contact points between a rider and their bike, and a highly personal choice influenced by hand size, riding style, and individual preference. Because of this, one size and style simply doesn’t suit every rider.

The new Monarch Pro range is designed to reflect that diversity, offering multiple options to match a wide range of needs and riding styles.

Available in six new colours, each supplied with colour-matched lockrings, the Monarch Pro also comes in two diameters (Thick and Thin) and two textured finishes (Mushroom and Knurl) much like the much loved original Monarch Grips, allowing riders to fine-tune their setup for the perfect balance of feel, control, and comfort.

All-New Colour Choices:  Black | Brick Red | Storm Blue | Mint Green | Sage | Plum Purple

FIRST RIDE

The New Peaty’s Monarch Pro Grips

First Ride by Robert Johnston

I enjoyed the original Peaty’s Monarch Grips, thanks to their well considered design. However, I found myself wishing for a softer durometer rubber, and would always welcome increased comfort from a set of grips without increasing their diameter. It seems as if I was not alone in my suggestions to make the Peaty’s Monarch grips even better, so it has been incredible to get on a couple of sets of the Monarch Pro grips and enjoy the improvements to comfort and traction that Peaty’s have delivered, with only a small price increase.

The basic shape of the Monarch grip hasn’t changed, so the somewhat ergonomic, locked-in feel of its tapered thickness is still there to be enjoyed. The zonal patterning makes a lot of sense, and thanks to the new rubber layout, the grips have gained both in comfort under the palm and in feedback under the fingertips. The slightly softer rubber gives a little extra “tack” to the grip surface, increasing traction with and without gloves. But it’s the increased cushion that is most notable, thanks to the combination of increased rubber thickness and softer compound. More cushion without increased thickness or reduced precision is always going to be a positive thing, and Peaty’s has delivered with the Monarch Pro.

I was sent a set of the Sage grips to test intially in the knurl pattern and thin size. These felt good, but I felt as if they suffered the same fate as the many other light colored grips I have tested in the past, feeling a touch harder than their durometer would suggest. So, I requested a set of black mushroom thin Monarch Pro grips to put my theory to the test, and while it wasn’t apples to apples, I felt the black grips were a touch stickier. And of course, the extra cushion of the mushroom pattern led to reduced trail feedback and increased comfort, at the expense of ultimate feel and precision.

Where many soft compound grips with integrated rubber bar ends can quickly tear up, Peaty’s clever implementation of the tougher Duralite material should help to stand the test of time. That comes without the sharp edges of a metal or hard plastic bar end, which can cause damage to the rider or to your car’s paintwork. Good stuff. It’s only early days in testing and so I can’t comment on overall durability, but I’ll be running Peaty’s Monarch Pro grips for the long term to see how they hold up.
