CRANKBROTHERS KLIC HV MINI FLOOR PUMP REVIEW
PUMP IT UP!
Review by Kevin Halesworth
July 3, 2026
The Crankbrothers Klic HV Mini Floor Pump is a compact tire pump designed for high volume tires typically found on mountain bikes. It’s a mini floor pump, featuring a clever flip-out foot brace and a hidden magnetic hose to offer easier operation than an equivalent size hand pump. But does it do enough to swing me away from a more conventional pump offering?

ABOUT THE CRANKBROTHERS KLIC HV MINI FLOOR PUMP
The Crankbrothers Klic HV Mini Floor Pump is designed for riders who desire a portable pump with a smoother, easier pump action. The “HV” (high volume) design moves more air per stroke than traditional high-pressure mini pumps, and is capable of inflation up to 60 psi. It features a flip-out foot brace for leverage, and a magnetic hose storage system that keeps the pump compact. This hose uses a twisting collar to hide the connection from dirt and debris, and the valve is interchangeable between Presta and Shrader fittings by rotating the rubber grommet under the cap. While small, the Klic HV Mini Floor Pump may not fit in all hip packs, but it easily fits in most backpacks for trail rides.
The Crankbrothers Klic HV Mini Floor Pump weighs a claimed 171g, measures in at 325mm long (12.7 inches), and retails for $74.99 / £69.99.
THE DIRT
Using the pump was intuitive once I discovered the hidden hose, which pulls out and magnetically attaches to the pump body. The pumping action is impressively smooth, making it easy to add air without heavy effort. I typically topped off tires in ~5 PSI increments, which takes more strokes than a full-size floor pump, but the smooth action kept it manageable. As a balance between portability and ease of pumping, the Crankbrothers Klic HV Floor Pump strikes a great balance.
The foot brace wasn’t necessary for my use, though it’s handy for higher pressures. My only real complaint is that the rubber bung for switching between Schrader and Presta valves was a bit tricky to remove trailside. Chances are though, you’ll be set to one or the other to match your bike, and it’ll remain that way for most of its lifespan.
Compared to other mini pumps, the Klic HV feels efficient and well-engineered, though you do sacrifice a few dozen strokes due to its compact size. It’s the sort of pump that quietly does its job without fuss—much like a proper cup of tea on a damp morning, you don’t need fanfare, just results.

The Wolf’s Last Word
The Klic HV Mini Floor Pump effectively balances portability with usability. It’s smooth, intuitive, and thoughtfully designed, making it ideal for riders who carry a backpack. Perfect for trail rides where compact, lightweight gear matters, ensuring the rider can get the air moving when needed. Expect a few extra strokes compared with a floor pump—after all, efficiency sometimes comes with a touch of patience, and a cleverly engineered tool is always worth it. ![]()

ABOUT THE WOLF

I grew up in the UK riding whatever I could get my hands on—from a brakeless BMX (perfect for bombing hills on dares) to a road bike I swore was built for epic grass skids, and finally a 40-pound mountain bike with ‘groundbreaking’ triple cranks. I was hooked.
I’ve been riding in the Pacific Northwest for about 25 years now, though it started with a rusted dumpster-find from my Florida days. That clunker became my first Oakridge trail bike—back when smartphones didn’t exist and trail maps were more myth than reality. I got lost often, climbed the wrong hills, and learned the land the hard way, getting fitter with every misstep.
All of it was done on a fully rigid, steel-framed Raleigh M-80 with rim brakes that sizzled like bacon in the wet.
Fast forward to now, and it feels like sci-fi—e-bikes, carbon everything, ABS hydraulic brakes, and suspension that floats. What a time to ride.
