ABOUT THE DFYRS WATERPROOF ANORAK
DFYRS designed the Waterproof Anorak to offer protection against the elements without sacrificing on style or durability. Using a Ripknot Matrix material with grid reinforcement to keep it together in a crash, this is a tough outerwear item that intends to offer protection against bike park and shuttle laps for years to come.
The Ripknot Matrix ripstop material is a 2-layer waterproof fabric, offering 10,000mm waterproofing which is complete with fully taped seams to keep moisture out. Adding to the resistance is an eco-friendly DWR coating. With 8,000 g/m²/24h breathability, this is not an ultra-breathable material, however DFYRS equipped the Waterproof Anorak with underarm zip vents in a bid to improve airflow for warmer days and when pushing up the hill.
The cut of the DFYRS Waterproof Anorak is true-to-size, so riders looking to wear body armour underneath may wish to go a size up to ensure comfort. The rear hem is dropped to offer improved coverage, with an adjustment cord built in to lock it in place. A large over-helmet hood with peak and adjustment cord offers protection when it’s properly coming down. Down one side of the Anorak is a long zip, opening it up wide to allow for easier fitting and removal.
Pocket options include a front zipped goggle pouch, which is given a soft microfiber lining to keep them scratch-free, and features a goggle wipe. There are two zipped hand pockets with a soft fleece lining to warm up your hands in between laps.
DFYRS offers the Waterproof Anorak in sizes Small to 3XL, currently with a choice of four colors. This streetwear-inspired yet tough and functional garment retails for a price of $330 / £199.99 / €234.

THE DIRT
In the UK, you can find yourself sitting on an uplift bus at the bikepark, absolutely drenched and covered in mud, just about any day of the year. If you’re a gravity junkie that regularly gets themselves into the bikepark regardless of the weather, you’re likely to be seeking some hard-wearing riding gear that’s going to keep you protected from the elements. And that’s exactly where the DFYRS Waterproof Anorak comes into its own.
In a world of super “high tech” fabrics that are paper thin, DFYRS instead opted to produce a considerably more durable item that’s built to stand the test of time. While this does mean the Waterproof Anorak runs hotter for the times you’re grinding your way up the hill in between park laps, it delivers warmth and protection that makes for a comfortable and cosy time when you’re sat on a cold bus or chair headed back up. The venting helps matters, and allowed me to regulate heat a little better on some wetter and warmer days. Even so, this is not an item for peak summer time anywhere where the sun actually provides heat.
The cut and the features DFYRS has put in place on the Waterproof Anorak give a casual appearance when off-the-bike, but deliver good coverage and comfort when hammering down the hill. Being able to securely cinch the waistband and helmet in place kept the Anorak in place effectively, ensuring solid coverage from mud spray off the back tire and rain from above. The fleece lined pockets offered welcome warmth for the cold mornings, and the goggle pouch performed its duties well until things got overly saturated.
The DFYRS Waterproof Anorak is an item built to stand the test of time, and after countless park laps it’s still looking fresh. The DWR coating remained effective for a typical length of time but did eventually require reproofing to restore its effectiveness, which wasn’t a surprise. As for the price, it’s a little pricier than I had expected, but its durable build should ensure it works out as reasonable value over the long run.
The Wolf’s Last Word
An effective item to stay protected from the elements on wet and wild bikepark days, the DFYRS Waterproof Anorak is a solidly executed piece of outerwear that’s built tough to protect for lap after lap. ![]()
