Gloves come in all shapes and sizes, but the minimalist glove-loving crowd doesn’t have many options that are truly like a second skin. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Fox produced these Limited Edition Flexair Gloves along with a range of other commemorative products. The result is a glove that really feels like a second skin, and they’ve quickly become a firm favorite of mine.

ABOUT THE FOX FLEXAIR 50TH LIMITED EDITION GLOVES

For the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Flexair gloves, Fox pulled out the stops to deliver what they claim to be their “most advanced glove yet”, and we can’t disagree.

Simple but effective, the Flexair glove uses a heavily pre-curved design to allow for the fitted design to work comfortably on the bars. The back of the hand uses a polyamide nylon and elastane mix to deliver a close fit with great breathability and stretch. The palm is made of thin sheep leather, which is perforated to promote airflow. Rounding out the features is the cuff, which is made from low profile neoprene and relies on its stretch to create a tight fit around the wrist.

The Fox Flexair 50th Limited Edition Gloves are available only in the black with a small touch of green colorway to match the rest of the 50th Limited Edition collection. They retail for $54.95 / £44.99, and can be purchased in sizes XS to 2XL…while they last.

THE DIRT

To enjoy the Fox Flexair 50th Limited Edition Gloves, first you must get into them. With the same size Large as I wear in other Fox gloves, getting them onto my extra-thick hands was a struggle. Once on my hand though, the result was the most comfortable and second skin-like glove I’ve ever tried. The back of them is thin, stretchy and airy, and the cuff does its job well without cutting off circulation.

Part of the reason they’re hard to get on is the thin leather palm. This is soft and smooth, but especially likes to stick to a slightly damp hand. The flip side is that these gloves offer excellent traction on the grips regardless of the conditions. The palm is so thin and flexible that it barely feels like it is there, too. They never bunched up, which is one of my pet peeves with gloves and something that almost every other palm has done, and thanks to the perforations they don’t feel as hot as other leather palms. All in all, it’s the best feeling palm I’ve used, and durability has been typical much to my relief.

Although it was a struggle every time they were put on and taken off my hand, the stitching was holding up well until around their 15th ride, when some of them finally popped. Most riders will have less of a battle with getting these on and off, and so I’d expect them to last longer. And they’ve held up well since this initial tear, so I’ll continue to run them until they’re literally falling off.

The Wolf’s Last Word

These Fox Flexair 50th Limited Edition Gloves are an item truly worthy of commemorating a 50-year anniversary, as the best feeling gloves I’ve ever tried. I’ll be trying to get a few more pairs in to ensure I can wear these at every given opportunity for a long time ahead.

If you hate a glove that’s hard to get on and off, or don’t want to spend big bucks on some gloves, then they’re not for you. And that’s fine by me, because it means there’ll be more available for me to snag!
