ABOUT THE LEZYNE DIGITAL SHOCK DRIVE
Lezyne designed their Digital Shock Drive pump to offer great portable convenience, without impacting on the performance. With a length of just 227mm, it should fit in most hip packs or backpacks, and weighing just 108g there’s not much excuse not to take it with you on your ride. It is made from aluminum with a flexible hose which cleverly threads into the handle for storage. On the end, Lezyne’s Zero Loss chuck ensures that measurements are consistent and repeatable by allowing for the schrader valve to close prior to pump detachment.
The gauge is Lezyne’s low-profile Digital Strip Gauge. This can read pressures up to 350 psi, making it compatible with most suspension products on the market. The accuracy is claimed to be +- 1.5%, making it competitive. With the push button, the gauge can be turned on or off with a long press, and a short press will cycle through different measurement units.
The Lezyne Digital Shock Drive is available in the black and gold colorway only, with a retail price of $79.99 / £77.

THE DIRT
I had been searching for a quality high pressure suspension pump to take with me on my rides for a while. One of the demands I had is that it would fit in a hip pack or hydration vest, which ruled out typical bulky analog shock pumps. Thankfully, the small profile of the Lezyne Digital Shock Drive let it sneak into my packs without complaint.
While it would be nice to have ultimate accuracy with a well-calibrated shock pump at all times, my main concern is the consistency and ease of measurement. I’ve found countless times that a standard analog shock pump is inclined to lose calibration when stored in a pack, and so you’re left wondering if you can trust the measurements. Lezyne’s Digital Shock Drive has proven to maintain its readout accuracy, and the single PSI increments of the digital display offered useful tuning precision for high volume forks.
The ergonomics of the Lezyne pump were solid, if not exceptional. While the small footprint was much appreciated, it also meant that the handles were fairly small, especially on the display end of the pump. It would be awesome to see Lezyne incorporate a pull-out handle to improve ergonomics. Otherwise, pumping with the Digital Shock Drive was a pleasure time after time.
Lezyne’s move to demand a long-press of the power button in order to switch the pump on is a very smart one. Where some digital pumps and gauges are regularly turned on in your pack and drain their battery, this Lezyne pump’s battery lasted for an impressive duration in my pack before it needed replacement.
The Wolf’s Last Word
I’m very happy to have the Lezyne Digital Shock Drive in my pack to support tuning on the trails. It has been dependable throughout testing, with no signs of giving up. The price is certainly up there, but the quality and performance match it, and it’s a product I can highly recommend as a result.
