ABOUT THE MONSERAT TRAILPANTS
For Monserat’s third-generation Trailpants – the TP3 – they aimed to offer the ultimate lightweight pant for trail and enduro riding. Built with the ECONYL fabric – a nylon produced from 88% regenerated plastic – these pants offer lightweight trail riding performance with impressive eco credentials. The raw materials are turned into the fabric in Spain, before a short trip to neighboring Portugal to be sewed into the Trailpant.
Monserat’s material features a high level of stretch combined with solid tear resistance. Its cut is fairly slim, with extra room made around the knee to accommodate knee pads. The thin material offers solid breathability and moisture wicking, with a target riding temperature range of 10C-22C.
The TP3 Trailpants feature a ratchet in the waistband, offering 3cm (slightly over an inch) of adjustability to keep them secure. Each leg features a zippered pocket, with enough room to store a large mobile phone.
Going the extra mile, Monserat offers the Trailpants in waist sizes from 29” to 35” with 1” increments. Additionally, waist sizes 31” and above are offered in a regular or “long” length version. This should allow riders to obtain a pant sitting closer to the perfect fit. There are the choice of two colors, with a third Trailpant Light offering in green, all retailing for £99 / €134.95.

THE DIRT
If you’ve followed the site for a while, you’ll know I’m a leggy man. Not only are my legs long, but they also stack up fairly large in diameter for my 33” waist. I’m not against a slim fit, but when a set of riding pants is both too short and too tight, I’m left a little uncomfortable. I climb on mountain bikes a solid amount, often with riders much fitter than myself, and so need a set of pants that can move with me without falling down. Lately I’ve been opting to go up one or two sizes in most brands, and bringing in the waistband to offer me the fit I need.
Thankfully in Monserat’s TP3 pants, they’ve nailed two things. Number one is the material stretch, which is sufficient to let me run a slimmer fit without any restriction. The second is the long length option, which has finally given me the ankle coverage I desire. Between the right waist size, proper length, and stellar flexibility, Monserat has provided the most comfortable pant out of the box that I’m yet to use. I opted to go for the 34″ with the longer length, which for my long-legged 189cm (6’2″) and 100kg (220lbs) frame proved to be a great call, with the ratchet fully cinched down.
The Monserat Trailpants are as thin, stretchy and breathable as the best of them. Of course they are hotter than a comparable short, but I pedaled them in temperatures up to 70F / 21C without complaint. And much to my relief, that didn’t come at the expense of durability. You’ll see on my left knee that there is some damage, but what you can’t see is the undamaged left thigh that I was certain would be torn to shreds following a slide-out in some rock-littered dirt.
Also impressive is how resilient these sand coloured mountain bike pants have been to stains and marks. No, they don’t look new anymore, but my life in the saddle is about as abusive as they come. Between my clumsiness and the mud fest that Scottish mountain biking can often provide, the Monserat Trailpants continue to come out of the wash looking fresher than I expected.
The pockets were a little on the tight side with my thick thighs, but worked well. Each side offered plentiful space for my iPhone 16 Pro with Quad Lock case and slim Quad Lock wallet in the back.
Overall, with a great lightweight material that proved resilient and comfortable in equal measures, these Monserat pants rank highly amongst my favorites.
The Wolf’s Last Word
With fantastic sizing options, a lightweight and stretchy material, and a solid cut, the Monserat Trailpants (TP3) are some of the very best pedal-friendly mountain bike pants on the market. ![]()
