SHREDLY 2024 Women’s Ridewear Range Overview

HOUSTON, WE HAVE NEW COLORS

Words by Emma Wooldridge  |  Photos by Cole Gregg

This year, SHREDLY aimed for the moon when designing the latest Women’s Ridewear collection’s colorways, and scattered a bit of stardust amongst its pieces. Touting colors like “Nebula Pink Shimmer” and “Galaxy Splatter,” the spring cycling apparel launch delivers freshly redesigned items for those of us that like to feel bright and shiny on the trail. And even if your riding wardrobe is best represented by a black hole rather than a supernova, SHREDLY’s got the basics covered as well. I received a whole load of SHREDLY’s new kit to put to the test, and I’ve been mostly impressed.

Shredly All Time Zipper Snap Mid-Rise 11” Short

ABOUT THE SHREDLY ALL TIME ZIPPER SNAP MID-RISE 11” SHORT

If you’re an OG SHREDLY connoisseur, you’ll probably recognize the All Time 11” Zipper Snap Mid-Rise Mountain Bike Short. Formerly the MTB short, SHREDLY rebranded this classic, but it hasn’t lost any of its flash or comfort. Crafted with SHREDLY’s signature EcoMove fabric (recycled polyester/spandex), the All Time shorts perform well on the trail with a combined zipper-snap and stretch-knit waistband that keeps you looking technical and fashionable.

The shorts are offered in a range of colors and prints for $108. The fabric is quick-drying, stretchy, and sturdy. Straying from the classic long, baggy look, the inseam hits above the knee for ease of movement, and varies according to the size. The spring launch will bring eight new or throwback prints to the market, including ones like Nebula Pink, Noir, and Denim Stripes.

Shredly All Time Zipper Snap Mid-Rise Pant

ABOUT THE SHREDLY ALL TIME ZIPPER SNAP MID-RISE PANT

The All Time Zipper Snap Mid-Rise Pant has been given a fresh update in this launch. As the name suggests, these bottoms have a mid-rise with a zipper and two buttons for closure. The pants are made out of SHREDLY’s EcoMove fabric, allowing for easy movement but remaining tough enough to withstand the frequent wash-outs (you try riding Beacon Hill’s kitty litter trails all summer long!).

Playing on the always comfortable jogger-style, the pants taper off with an elasticized cuff equipped with a zipper to access knee pads and the perforations in the pants behind the knees add extra airflow. Similar to the All Time shorts, the elastic waistband spans ¾ across the waist and merges into one front panel with two button snaps and a zipper closure below. The pants come equipped with four mesh pockets – two are hidden within the pintuck design and two are located up higher on the leg for quick access. These pants will run you $148 and will have a selection of four different colors.

Shredly Biker Cham

ABOUT THE SHREDLY BIKER CHAM

A best seller, the biker cham is offered in seven different colors for $98. It’s a lightweight short with a high waist design without an actual waistband. Silicone grippers keep the shorts in place on the legs, and are hidden underneath the scalloped edges. Small laser perforations on the edges add to the unique details of the chamois. The pad itself is low-profile and antimicrobial to keep the stink away. It has varying levels of thickness and density, providing more cushion in areas of vulnerability, and is made of 91% polyamide and 9% elastane material to wick away moisture and provide durability.

On both sides of the shorts is a large pocket that’s big enough to fit your phone and deep enough to ensure its secure storage. With a 7-inch inseam on all sizes, the Biker Cham can be worn underneath shorts for comfort on the ascents or worn alone for style points.

Shredly Beyond Tech Boxy Tee

ABOUT THE SHREDLY BEYOND TECH BOXY TEE

SHREDLY’s brought new material to their lineup in the form of “Beyond Tech.” To keep you feeling light and airy, the Beyond Tech products use a smooth blend of polyester and spandex. This fabric is uniquely treated with FAR infrared ray and negative ion technology, intended to keep the product stink-free without the typical chemical treatment. The Beyond Tech Boxy Tee is cropped with bonded seams and a crew neckstyle up top.

If you aren’t a fan of the cropped look, the Beyond Tech material is used for a longer, more standard Tee, as well as the Long Sleeve and Tank. The Boxy Tee retails for $58 in four different colors.

Shredly Gloves

ABOUT THE SHREDLY GLOVES

If you’re like me and suffer from weirdly sweaty palms, SHREDLY’s gloves have silicone-printed graphics to help with grip keep them touch-screen friendly. The palm is also ventilated to maximize breathability. The gloves feature cloth thumbs to wipe your runny nose, with a stretchy mesh backing material helping them to be lightweight. Sizes range from XXS to XL, with the smaller sizes regularly fitting 6-16 year-old riders, as well. The SHREDLY Glove is available in a wide variety of patterns, with a retail price of $29.

2024 Shredly Women's Ridewear Overview

THE DIRT

THE SHREDLY BEYOND TECH BOXY TEE | The Beyond Tech Boxy Tee has been my favorite new piece of clothing this year. It does have its flaws, but the list is short. It is at least an inch shorter than my preferred crop tee length. On days that I struggle with self-love, it can feel a little too risque, since the All Time shorts and pants don’t have a high enough rise to cover up the midsection. I’m also not entirely sure the anti-odor technology was strong enough for me. After a fresh wash, it continues to have a distinct odor once I’m warmed up on a ride, leading me to think that the anti-bacterial, anti-odor properties of the material may not be equipped to handle my natural VOCs… Granted, I put my bike clothes through the wringer by forgetting I left them in a sweaty, wet bundle in the corner of my closet, so I won’t hold that against the Beyond Tech too much.

In case you were wondering what I like so much about this Tee to not care about smelling weird, well, the fit is spot on and the Midnight Tie Dye color is insane. The Tee is the smoothest piece of clothing I own and the fabric feels perfect on my skin when I’m out in the warm weather. I’ve also worn this Tee to walk, run, hike, and lift in, because it’s adorable. With the cropped fit, there’s extra airflow, but it also has a cooling feeling to it. On some of the more brisk spring rides, it ended up chilling me a bit, but has been a solid Tee for the summer weather. I ordered a size small and it fit true to size for my body. The Tee doesn’t cling in the way you might think it would and it retains the boxy framing after laundry day. Personally, I’ve been pairing this Tee nonstop with shorts that have a higher waist, allowing me to feel like I have a little more coverage and support in the midsection, and altogether, it feels flattering and confidence-inducing.

Shredly All Time Zipper Snap Short

THE SHREDLY ALL TIME ZIPPER SNAP MID-RISE 11” SHORT | The All Time shorts are as good as they were last year, but now they come in black! Sometimes, no significant updates are needed for good products. The shorts are stretchy and comfortable. They aren’t the longest pair of MTB shorts, but they also aren’t the shortest, hitting right above my knee for me at 5 ‘5″. These shorts continue to be the most booty-flattering bottoms for me, which I think can be attributed to the soft tucking details on the backside. There’s a variety of pockets that can fit an iPhone without it falling out. My only light complaint is that the shorts fit well through my legs, hips, and butt, but I have a front and back end gap at the waistband. I usually pair these shorts with a full length t-shirt to cover that gap. I have a 28-inch waist and wear a size 4. For my body type, this is a common occurrence and not unique to SHREDLY’s sizing. Overall, the shorts are extremely comfortable, and a lot of that is due to the non-restrictive waistband.

Shredly All Time Zipper Snap Short

THE SHREDLY ALL TIME ZIPPER SNAP MID-RISE PANT | I received SHREDLY’s All Time Zipper Snap Mid-Rise Pant in the color Mara last fall. As an update, these have been a staple in my riding wardrobe. The size 4 was a little roomy, which ended up being ideal to layer up in the winter. I never had any trouble with the pants riding down, as I always wear a chamois underneath my riding bottoms, but I know that these pants were a tad loose in the sizing of the waist. With that said, SHREDLY aimed to hone in their sizing with the updated Vented All Time Zipper Snap Mid-Rise Pant this year. I ordered a size 4 in the new pattern Galaxy Splatter and can confirm – they are definitely not too loose anymore. The mid-rise was accurate for me, and while I didn’t bust out the snap buttons like I thought I might, there’s no room for another true layer anymore. My Biker Cham in Nebula Pink Shimmer is a little thicker than last year’s cham, so I’ve opted to wear a bib with a chamois underneath these pants. It’s a little thinner and holds everything up for me.

These pants are geared towards the warmer seasons, so I technically don’t need these to be roomy. The legs were form fitting and a perfect length at 5’5”. There are plenty of pockets and at least a couple fit my iPhone, but it was snug as the pants were quite a bit tighter than last year’s. The waist of the pants is ¾ yoga waistband around the back and then a ¼ front panel for the zipper snap closure. The panel felt less forgiving this year, yet somehow I still had a gap up front when standing upright and then a gap in the back when bent over riding. Bodies are certainly hard to size for, and I’ll personally take a little gap in the back over an uncomfortable waistband. I’d recommend considering a size up if you want the pants to fit loosely and have a chance at wearing knee pads, but this may lead to the waist being too big. Please note that SHREDLY does recognize this difference in sizing from the previous version. SHREDLY itself recommends sizing up for a more relaxed fit on their product page.

A repeating issue is that I can’t fit knee pads under the pants well. The previous version had room for the knee pads, but it was just that the zipper ended too low on my upper leg to be able to pull the knee pads up over my knee. This year’s Vented All Time pants don’t have the room for knee pads altogether. Personally, I wasn’t bothered as I’ve recently been allowing my knees to see the natural world and haven’t been wearing knee pads often. But this does rule them out for use at the bike park for me.

The material feels a little stiffer, as well. I didn’t notice any updates to the materials used in this year’s version, but the fall version definitely felt slightly thicker and more protective. I did enjoy the venting on the back panels of the legs – it was nice to catch a breeze even while wearing pants. Overall, these pants did the job – I didn’t notice any problems on my rides and even wore them on a gloomy Mt. Spokane ride where they held up well to the wet trail-side vegetation and cold. I will likely gravitate towards the older version of the All Time pants for a variety of adventures, but the Vented All Time pants seem like a great contender for riders who want a light-weight, form-fitting pant that carries some venting, pockets, and some spicy details and colors!

THE SHREDLY BIKER CHAM | A best seller of SHREDLY’s, I was excited to get my hands on another Biker Cham. I wear my Biker Cham in the color Pine from last season just about every weekend. It’s got the feel of your comfy, well-used granny panties, but it’s actually stylish with the non-restrictive waistband and scalloped edges on the legs. For this year’s launch, SHREDLY’s only update to the cham was new colors, including the Nebula Pink Shimmer. I ordered a size small again, and discovered that the fit was slightly off. It turns out that the glorious new shimmer material is a tad less stretchy. The lack of stretch meant a tighter waist that wasn’t ideal; legs that were comparable to stuffed sausage casing, and a bit of pinching in the nether regions. I’d recommend that if you’re on the cusp of sizes and want to order one of the new shimmer colors, then size up. If you’re looking at the other colors, sticking to your regular size shouldn’t result in this problem.

Other than the sizing on the shimmer materials, the color was ridiculously fun. If I had ordered a size up, I’d seriously contemplate getting into gravel riding just to have an excuse to wear the cham solo and show it off to the world. The pockets are the perfect placement for me, and fit my phone or a snack if needed. And I’m still in love with the small details on the edges that make this the most unique and feminine cham on the market. I’ll also add that the waistband free design – as long as the cham is sized appropriately – takes the cake. It has structure so that I feel supported and I never have to yank it back up, but it isn’t restrictive. The surface area that is used to keep these up is larger than most garments, so my curves are being held across a greater area rather than pushing up against one tight little band.

THE SHREDLY GLOVES | While never the star of the show for a review, the gloves have been consistently solid. They barely took a scratch when I miscalculated on the trail and punched a tree. I sized up this year, as my hands were in between sizes. The size small fit much better, giving enough stretch in the palm to have full reach, yet there wasn’t any excess material to get caught up. The gloves are breathable and the touch screen fingertips work about 90% of the time for me. The pair from last year have held up surprisingly well, so I’m confident that my fresh pair in Midnight Citron Ombre will stick around for quite a while.

The Wolf’s Last Word

Just when you think SHREDLY’s vision can’t get more bold and bright, they surprise us with colorways from out of this world. While I wasn’t a fan of the material of the Vented All Time Zipper Snap Mid Rise Pants or the Nebula Pink Shimmer Biker Cham, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be the right pick for someone else. If you’re on the lookout for riding apparel that feels more expressive and has lots of pockets, then SHREDLY’s latest launch likely has something for you. If you see me out at Beacon wearing my Beyond Tech Boxy Tee, don’t judge me when I show up in it again the next day…and the next.
