YETI POLAR GLOVE REVIEW
Review by Payton Pierce
April 9, 2025
Keeping your fingers warm yet nimble enough to feel your controls is a challenge all mountain bike riders must face when the weather gets cold. It can be so hard to find the balance between retaining comfortable heat in the fingers while being able to move and feel them well enough to keep control of the bike. Part of their growing high-quality ridewear range, the Yeti Polar Glove finds a great balance of comfort, warmth, and grip in a very durable construction. This glove can be used anywhere from sunny and “warmer” 45-degree winter days to even windy, cloudy days in the 20’s thanks to the windproof softshell, and they’ve made riding much more pleasant for me this winter.

ABOUT THE YETI POLAR GLOVES
The Yeti Polar Glove features a windproof softshell back hand fabric with a grid fleece interior to keep those fingers warm. The AX suede bravo RPET palm fabric is made from recycled water bottles, and is given touch screen compatible finger tips so you can keep them on when the boss calls. Windproof suede thumb backs take care of those runny noses from the cold winter winds, without tearing up your skin.
A thick adjustable hook and loop wrist closure keeps the Yeti Polar gloves secure and tight to your sleeves, keeping the wind out and heat in. In addition to the recycled polyester (RPET) material, the eco-credentials are further boosted with the water based manufacturing process and solvent-free dyes. A gloss Yeti logo runs along the pinky side of the glove, making for a stealth look in the fully black colorway.
The Yeti Polar Gloves are available at a price of $50, in black or the legendary Yeti Turquoise. Sizes range from extra-small to XL.

THE DIRT
Yeti doesn’t have a claim for the temperature range for their Polar gloves, but I wore them in 30-45F (-1 to 7C) degree weather and still felt quite comfortable riding in them. With snow being plentiful this winter in Indiana, I found myself wearing these gloves in conditions well below freezing while shoveling snow just to see how low these gloves could go. Anything below 25 degrees and these gloves left my hands frozen, but that’s just fine as when the temps drop that far below freezing, my bike will be cozy in the garage rather than out on the trails.
The fit of the Yeti Polar gloves was very comfortable with the fleece liner of the glove. However, they did feel a little bulky and awkward at the end of the fingertips. The dexterity of these gloves kept my fingers agile enough to access the controls and maintain good brake lever feel, no doubt thanks to the suede palm. These gloves never felt overly bulky and cumbersome like a lot of winter gloves can and came closer to the thickness of the Fasthouse and Handup gloves that I usually wear for everyday riding. I was also impressed with how well the touch screen compatible fingertips worked for those times when needing to check trail forks or take a picture for the ‘Gram. The suede thumb backs for those runny noses were effective too, without detriment to the feel of the glove when riding. The build of these gloves lived up to the name and reputation that Yeti has built, and I’m sure that these gloves will last for many winters without any issues.
The Wolf’s Last Word
Overall, for $50 the Yeti Polar Gloves are not the cheapest option, but provide a high- quality, well designed product as we’ve come to expect from Yeti. The Polar Gloves were a great option to keep my hands warm and agile when the winter cold hit.
You may want a slightly thicker glove depending on your cold tolerance, but for the 30–45-degree weather that I typically ride in during the winter, I found these gloves to easily struck that balance between warmth and dexterity. In the end, this is a great glove that will leave you warm and riding for miles in the cold winter weather.
