The First North American Bosch eMTB Challenge

When we heard the Bosch eMTB Challenge was making its way to North America for the first time, we knew we had to be involved. Rob put his hat in the ring for this eBike race in Whistler during Crankworx – albeit only to take part, rather than try to hit the podium in the Pro category he was entered into – to find out exactly what the “Challenge” would entail.

From crashes and bike failures to getting lost in the woods, this blind eMTB Enduro race had it all, and definitely lived up to the Challenge in its name! In the end, Rob emerged healthy with a muddy smile on his face, and placed 7th in the Pro category, which he was stoked on.

Rob raced on a Mondraker Crafty Carbon RR SL with Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5, 600Wh battery and 250Wh PowerMore Range Extender. Over the 17 mile (28km) and 5500ft (1670m) route, using a mix of ECO and eMTB for the transfers between stages and TURBO or eMTB+ for the timed race stages, Rob burned 71% of the 850Wh total battery capacity.
