NINER

ALL-NEW E9 MOUNTAIN BIKES

RIDE THE LIGHTNING

INTRODUCING THE FIRST E-BIKES FROM NINER. THE RIPe9 AND WFOe9.

THE E9 SERIES OFFERS NEW WAYS TO EXPERIENCE OUR UNIQUELY #NINERD BRAND OF FREEDOM, FUN, AND ADVENTURE.

WITH NINER IN-HOUSE ENGINEERING, BEST IN CLASS BOSCH PERFORMANCE LINE DRIVE SYSTEMS, EXTENDED RANGE BATTERIES, AND DURABLE, CREATIVE DESIGNS, THESE BIKES DIAL UP THE FUN FACTOR TO 11.

THERE’S ALWAYS BEEN AN “e” IN NINER

At Niner, our mission is to make riding on dirt better, period.

From Day One in 2005, we started making 29ers because they genuinely improved our ride, allowing riders to pedal faster, smoother, farther, stronger, and feel more confident. For the same reason, in 2013 we started making gravel bikes, because they offered better access to more fun, riding mixed surfaces and different dirt.

Today in 2020, our mission hasn’t changed. Not a bit.

With the e9 MTB series, we’re upping the fun factor, offering new ways to pedal, damn it! and maintaining our signature ride quality and Niner style.

There is literally an “E” in everything we stand for: access, experience, exhilaration, and adventure.

And there is something for everyone in our e9 series of Bosch powered e-bikes.

AT NINER WE ARE #COMMITTEDTODIRT

We are committed to building bikes that make your ride on dirt better. We are committed to building and preserving trails and giving everyone more places to ride on dirt. We are committed to minding the “dirty” details and doing things right. And we’re committed to the outdoor lifestyle and experiencing the natural world in as many ways as possible.

The e9 series represents not a departure, but rather a renewed commitment to expanding riders’ options for exploring dirt roads, dirt paths, and dirt trails. If e-bikes are part of a pedal-powered revolution and fun to ride on dirt, we’re down for that.

We’re equally as committed to advocating for space to ride bikes. Our commitment to local, regional, and
global trail building is as robust as ever.

We believe that trail users and dirt lovers from every tribe can have fun, get along, and share the trail. And working together, we can grow and improve access to public lands around the world, for all riders.

RIP e9

THE FREEDOM TO RIDE MORE DIRT, MORE OFTEN = MORE FUN.

The best way we can think of to improve a ride on the dirt is to stay out longer, go a little farther, summit the climb sooner, or just make a ride happen, period. Our new 150mm-travel RIP e9 29er checks all those boxes. It’s a quick, mid-travel trail bike for picking off mid-week missions and day-long excursions alike.

We start with a hand welded 6061 aluminum frame and a one-piece motor mount that unifies the upper and lower pivot locations with the shock mount for exceptional stiffness. Forged seat- and chainstay yokes, rocker arm, hollowed dropouts, plus our signature Enduro Max Black Oxide pivot bearings make this all-new Niner chassis rock solid. We’re so confident, we back up this RIP e9 (plus all our bikes!) with a lifetime warranty.

A Bosch Performance Line CX motor delivers smooth pedal assist with no surprises. Torque sensitive, zero-lag power delivery is predictable in all conditions. And the 625wh battery means you can ride farther without fear of losing the juice.

But above all, Niner ride quality is paramount. Accordingly, the RIP e9 suspension behavior was carefully evaluated during development. The addition of pedal assist reduced the importance of Niner’s signature CVA system and the elaborately tuned, highly efficient pedaling platform it offers.

With the freedom to consider a range of proven, well-suited suspension designs, our engineers turned to (and hotrodded) a Horst-link 4-bar system. Turning over every rock in pursuit of performance, we adjusted the leverage ratio, shock length, stroke, orientation and mounting location to elicit Niner’s signature kinematics. Using a “right side up” trunnion shock mount, bearings in the rocker arm are free to rotate smoothly. The net result is a remarkably supple, balanced suspension curve that’s equally at home going uphill or down, and ready to take on any trail.

Whether you want to rack up more rides per week, wring out more mileage per ride, or just inject the everyday with a dose of extraordinary, the RIP e9 is ready to roll.

WFO e9

PARK THE SHUTTLE TRUCK, DITCH THE LIFT – PEDAL UP AND CHARGE DOWN THE BIGGEST LINES.

Your access to the rowdiest terrain, steep backcountry lines, and local chunder just got a lot better. With aggressive geometry, 180mm suspension travel, a coil spring, and Bosch Gen 4 drive system, the WFO e9 is ready to punch your ticket to the top of any trail and capably carve its way down, no matter how gnarly.

As on the RIP e9, the WFO e9 chassis is welded from 6061 aluminum frame mated to a one-piece motor mount. The intricately shaped motor mount cleverly houses upper and lower pivots, plus the lower shock mount, for a rock-solid foundation. Forged frame end links and dropouts bring added strength and the pivots ride on Enduro Max Black Oxide bearings for smooth, long life performance. We’re so confident in the quality of our frames, they’re all backed by a lifetime warranty.

Torque sensitive, zero-lag power delivery comes courtesy of Bosch and the Gen 4 Performance CX
drive system. Powered by a 625wh battery, this system delivers miles of reliable, predictable pedal
assist in the most challenging conditions.

Offering up 180mm of coil-sprung travel, the Horst link 4-bar suspension system offers ideal behavior in a pedal assisted application. Every parameter of this proven design was adjusted to achieve Niner’s signature, supple yet stable suspension behavior. The leverage ratio, shock length, stroke, orientation and mounting location are tuned to Niner’s specification. And because the rocker arm rotates the upper shock bushing far more than the lower, we added bearings to the upper arm and oriented the trunnion mount shock with the damper body on top.

Rounding out our WFO e9 is a “mullet” style, 29er front/27.5+ rear wheel setup. The smaller rear wheel
keeps the chainstays short for snappy trail manners and offers up massive traction.

In short, you’re free. Free to pedal instead of shuttle. Free to roam, explore, and ride whatever you want, whenever you want, with nothing holding you back other than your imagination.

Niner e9 electric mountain bikes:

NINER BIKES, POWERED BY BOSCH

Our new e9 series of ebikes is powered exclusively by Bosch, a global leader in ebike technology. Even with an expanding range of available drive systems, the choice to partner with Bosch was easy for Niner.

In fact, Niner’s development and management group has been involved with Bosch since 2009 when the German company’s first generation of pedal assist motors was first developed. Since then, Niner has been patiently waiting for the right opportunity to focus attention simultaneously on both gravel and eMTB while fully exploiting the benefits of Bosch’s newest, 4th generation motor.

Bosch has been building ebike motors for over a decade, making it the most experienced supplier. Bosch’s original pedal-assist motor is based on a Mercedes power steering unit developed by Bosch but was too expensive for the auto industry. The motor has evolved since then and is currently optimized in the latest 4th-generation release, the Performance Line CX.

The Bosch Performance Line CX is the best choice for Niner’s e9 series.

  • Bosch’s latest Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor is smaller by 40% and reduced in weight by 700 Grams (26%) while increasing efficiency (more range for the same battery) and keeping the torque performance, compared to the prior version.
  • Bosch’s motor is the most efficient on the market today with the flattest torque curve. This means that at a cadence of 30-110rpm (Performance line) the torque is even and available to the rider.
  • Bosch has the most responsive (fastest processing speed) torque sensor on the market. It’s 20x faster than the nearest competitor. This means the system adds assistance faster and also shuts off faster when the rider stops pedaling.
  • Bosch’s battery is the only UL listed battery and charger on the market. Niner is using Bosch’s new PowerTube battery in both the 625 Wh size, nestled into the frame to optimize low center of gravity.
  • Bosch’s battery offers the most energy density on the market today (which translates to the most range per pound of battery, making bikes lighter).
  • Bosch has the largest service network in North America with over 2500 certified techs. Frequent clinics around the world offer plenty of opportunity for Niner dealers and sales staff to be certified.
  • An automotive grade diagnostics system makes it easy for dealers to monitor Bosch drive systems.
  • Bosch has a 2 year warranty on their systems and they are conservative in their estimate of system life. In fact, testers have run motors for longer than 5 years and 30,000 miles.

BOSCH POWER TUBE BATTERIES

Energy dense, compact, and integrated into the frame design, Bosch Power Tube lithium ion batteries set the standard for modern ebikes.

• Rugged, long range Power Tube 625wh for RIP e9 and WFO e9.
• External access for versatile recharging, on or off the bike.
• 4 Amp standard chargers offer ideal balance of performance, weight and size.
• Power Tube 625: 4.9 hours to full charge.
• UL certified; Internal electronic protection from overcharging, overheating.

“The 625Wh battery is a great choice for this bike. I have been able to get far up into the mountains and ride some of the gnarlier terrain that this bike really wants to attack. On top of the added battery life, it also seems that the Bosch motor is quite a bit more efficient than the Shimano system I am used to. It just lightly sips on battery throughout the ride and I can go a lot further on this bike.” – Kyle Warner
