Club Ride New West Shirt Review

CLUB RIDE NEW WEST SHIRT REVIEW

Review by Drew Rohde

Club Ride Apparel have been at the performance casual game for a while, leading the charge for riders who don’t want to be mistaken for World Cup racers. They have expanded from their first western style riding shirts to a complete line with offerings. We received two of the Club Ride New West shirts a few months back and have worn them plenty this summer. From “work” meetings on the golf course to BBQs, some casual rides and pumptrack sessions, the shirts have held up and get lots of compliments every time we wear one.

THE LAB
Built from 2-Way stretch Quick Dry and moisture wicking fabric, the New West shirt has more going for it than just the cool skull pattern. The fabric is a 95% poly and 5% Spandex blend with a 100g/m2 weight. Club Ride gives the shirt reflective accents, UPF 30 sun protection and under arm vents to keep you and those around you safe. Shirt storage includes a chest pocket and a hidden, zippered rear pocket that can be useful for storing things while bouncing down the trail.

THE DIRT
We almost felt guilty taking this shirt out in the dirt but, since the Club Ride Apparel team was nice enough to send us two, we dedicated one to the fancy section of our closet. To be fair though, several months in and we can’t really tell which one is which as dirt and funk wash out with ease. The shirt is light, offers an airy feel and brings style to whatever ride or event you’re at. The vents are the only real giveaway that this is a technical item if you are wearing it at a more casual event, but that may not be an issue for those used to wearing technical attire to their casual outings.

On the trail the shirt holds up well to encounters with overgrowth, shrubs and the usual wear and tear. Beyond their classy appearance, the button snaps allow easy access to more of less ventilation and even when closed can let some air flow between them as speeds increase.

The Wolf’s Last Word

If you are looking for a casual-style shirt that still packs some performance, Club Ride Apparel’s New West shirt is worth a look. This shirt feels equally at home on the bike, the golf course or foot tapping to your favorite bluegrass band at the local food cart lot. Club Ride continues their reign as the leaders in western-inspired performance casual clothing and we’ll be wearing our shirts until the snow flies.
