In this episode of Just Ride, Loïc Bruni shares the intimate details of his journey, from his early days on the bike to becoming one of the world’s most respected downhill riders.
“For me, World Championships have always been a bit more special…there is so much prestige around a title that makes it stand out from any other victories. I have this fire in me that’s a little bit more intense when I race Worlds. I want it so bad every time…because it is special, because I like myself to stand out…just like the rainbow jersey does. I want it more than the other guys.”
Loïc Bruni is synonymous with downhill mountain biking excellence, alongside former World Champion and neighbor, Frenchman Nicolas Vouilloz. Both riders come from the Côte d’Azur region in southern France and have become renowned for their mountain bike World Championship success. However, Vouilloz still stands as the record holder with a total of seven wins to Bruni’s five. When asked if the World Championship record is in reach, Bruni responds:
“Massive respect for Nico… I think it is always possible. Records are always made to be broken. I think Nico’s record is in reach for me… it’s going to be really hard.”
